The two ways to power a motor
- Rechargeable battery — no wiring; recharge occasionally via USB. The easiest option to add to any room.
- Permanently wired 230V — continuous mains power, wired in by an electrician. Ideal for new builds and renovations.
NZ manufactured roller blinds
Battery motor — Uplyft · $160 per motor
Our in-house wirefree motor. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery means no wiring — just recharge occasionally. Bluetooth connects direct to your device, it links to ZigBee or similar smart-home systems, and an optional WiFi hub lets you control your blinds — and check each motor’s battery level — from anywhere. Backed by a 3-year warranty.
Remote required (sold separately): $85 — one remote controls up to 16 blinds independently. A charger is also required (sold separately; a universal charger is available).

230V motor — Acmeda E6 · $333 per motor
A permanently wired 230V motor (by Rollease Acmeda) delivering continuous power — the ideal solution when wiring can be run during a renovation or new build. Compatible with roller systems, and can also be adapted for Roman and Venetian shades.

Imported Soluna roller blinds
AutoWand™ · $90 per blind
The blind is controlled by a wand permanently attached to the motor — no remote to find or program. The built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery recharges via micro-USB at the base of the wand (charger included), so there are no disposable batteries to replace. It’s “Best for Kids” certified and completely cord-free — a safe, simple and affordable choice.

A permanently wired 220/230V motor — no batteries required, and the price includes the motor and power adapter.
Remote required (sold separately): $85 — one remote controls up to 5 blinds independently.

The lithium-ion battery is recharged occasionally rather than running on disposable batteries — typically several months between charges, depending on the blind’s size and how often it’s used. With the WiFi hub, the app shows each motor’s battery percentage so you know when to top it up.
Yes. The 230V motors connect to mains power and must be wired in by a registered electrician. NZ Blinds is 100% online and doesn’t offer an installation service, so you arrange your own electrician. The battery options (Uplyft and AutoWand) need no electrical work at all.

AutoWand comes complete with its charger. For Uplyft battery motors a charger is required and sold separately (a universal charger is available). The 230V motors don’t need a charger.
The motor sits inside the blind tube, so motorisation is chosen when you order a new blind rather than added to one you already have. You can apply it to any roller blind in our range.
