Manufacturing Times

Current estimated manufacturing times:

NEW ZEALAND MANUFACTURE

5 working days for New Zealand manufactured 5 DAY ROLLER, 5 DAY FAUX WOOD VENETIAN and 5 DAY HONEYCOMB blinds

7-8 working days for New Zealand manufactured ROLLER & FAUXWOOD venetians

15 working days for New Zealand manufactured VERTICAL & ALUMINIUM venetians

Please note: working days exclude weekends, public holidays and factory closure periods such as Christmas 2024/25 factory closures are 19 December until 6 January. The good news is that by ordering over the holiday period we will be processing orders and you will secure your place in the production schedule upon the factory’s return.

IMPORTED

** see below – 35-50 working days for imported HONEYCOMB, FAUX WOOD, ALUMINIUM and PHOENIXWOOD blinds

** see below – 50-60 working days for imported SHUTTERS

** IMPORTED Chinese New Year.  The factory closes 25 January and re-opens on the 2 February (factory cut-off times are around 10-14 days prior to this, depending on the product type).  This unfortunately means that orders placed after the 13th of January will take longer to get here than usual as it takes the factory a while to catch up on manufacturing after the 1-week annual closure.  Generally, there is 3-4 weeks added to manufacturing times when they return to work.  Shipping is also disrupted as this holiday affects the entire country and everyone scrambles to get containers out in a hurry when everything is back up and running.  We expect shipping to take 1-3 weeks longer than usual in the 6 weeks following CNY.

The Best Blinds for Large Windows

Large windows can be a fantastic feature in your household, especially if you dress them with appropriate and complementary blinds. They allow light to beam through the house, heat your rooms and showcase impressive views. However, it is essential to complement your large windows with blinds, or you are going to experience the adverse effects of too much light exposure on interior items, overheating rooms and a lack of privacy. Buying the right blinds for your large windows can make or break their balance as functional and stunning home features. Now, you may be unsure which blinds are best for your large windows, and that’s ok, we are here to help.

Roller blinds

Roller blinds are a sheet of fabric covering a window from the top down and can be rolled up and down via a cord or motorised system. These blinds can be in various styles; however, we advise the sunscreen roller blinds to be the best fit for large windows. This style reduces UV and heat by up to 97% and offers a daytime privacy option for your large windows, which still allows you to see outside. The benefit of having this style is the weight load is significantly less than other variations which tend to use a heavier fabric to blackout a room. Unless your large windows are in your bedroom, we recommend sticking to the sunscreen roller blinds to get the best of both worlds with your large windows.

Venetian blinds

The Venetian blinds are a more affordable, yet highly stylish, solution to your large windows. Venetian blinds are your classic blind that operates with a cord to adjust the overhang on your window. The adjustable horizontal slats allow for maximum customisation in your home’s heat and light levels (a great energy saver for those bills). A significant aspect of Venetian blinds is their ability to maintain their shape across wider window frames, which helps keep a clean yet casual look for your interior. There are also various materials used for Venetian blinds depending on the style you desire. For example, wooden blinds can instantly transform your window from being large into an impressive feature piece within your home.

Vertical blinds

Vertical blinds are a must-have if you are a homeowner with tall windows. No other blind can help you pull off that classy look better than vertical blinds. The benefit of privacy, light control and the large slats being easily cleanable, although they hardly collect dust, make vertical blinds the perfect style for those tall windows. They are suited to bring a dramatic effect to your interior and offer the opportunity of an elegant, contemporary décor to your home.

Tips to make the right choice for your large windows

When it comes down to making the final decisions, you need to consider a few key characteristics of your window (not only the size). A large window doesn’t necessarily mean large draping curtains; you need to dress it appropriately to ensure you bring out its best features.

Consider the room you are buying for and your stylistic goals. If you have a large window in your bedroom, sunscreen roller blinds may not block enough light when you sleep. Your living room may need blinds that also stand as a feature piece to enhance the room’s visual appeal. Consider blinds like art. They need to compliment the environment they are in; otherwise, they will clash, and the opportunity for stylistic interplay within your interior décor is lost.

The framing of your window is another vital aspect when considering which blinds will work best for your décor. The tall living room patio door may have either vertical or Venetian blinds, but the vertical will typically draw out its tall, elegant frame. In contrast, the Venetian is more likely to hide its size away. It is crucial to think about what you desire from your large windows in terms of functionality, style, and compatibility with blind options.
